| Plans Go Back to the City for 2nd Review |
| 8/3/2004 2:30:00 PM |
| After just 4 short working days, our architect has revised our plans and resubmitted them to the city for further review. The revised plans also reflect the removal of the woodworking workshop. This was removed to get the price in line with our budget. The city says that they will complete this round of review by August 16, 2004. |
What we expect: - When we look at other projects like ours we find that the average turnaround time for this phase is about 3 weeks, so the 23rd is probably the earliest we can expect.
- We still don't know what might happen with the sidewalk issue. We have been working with the City's real estate department to see if we can be forced to build a sidewalk. We hope to have an answer from the City Attorney by August 12 or so.
- The contractor is reconstructing his bid to estimate a new cost for us. He keeps telling us how much cement costs (it's all going to China) and generally scaring us quite a bit.
- We are accelerating the decision making for items like granite and tile so we can more accurately estimate the material cost of these things. We'd like to keep them from getting out of hand.
So we'll anxiously watch the City's web site for the rest of this month in hopes of getting started shortly. |
